[TYPO3] tt_news css settings.

Could some please tell me how to force tt_news v 2.3.5 to read it's css 
settings from some where other than the static templates?
i've tried several time to import the css settings from within typo 
config and i've also tried changing the static template directly.

I'm trying to set the font on all elements to verdana.

If some could help it would be most appreciated
