[TYPO3] no error when calling non existend directory

hi group,

i got a problem with simulate static documents:

when accessing a non existant directory, i get no error message and the 
content is displayed disorted (because the image and css links are 
wrong, because of the directory)

eg. www.domain.com/test and www.domain.com/test/ where "test" is a non 
existing directory lead to the starting page but still with the wrong 
(non existing) test subdirectory

can you confirm this (that typo3 does not return an error when called 
with a non existant directory using simulate static documents)?

perhaps it is a problem with my htaccess / httpd.conf but i don't think so.
