[TYPO3] Transparent GIF in GMENU

Hello again!

Yet another problem: I want to create a menu with a
custom font, so my thinking is that I need to user
GMENU. So, I create the GMENU with clear.gif as the
background image like this:

4 = IMAGE
4.file = fileadmin/storm/images/CLEAR.GIF

but the result is a blank white bitton! I've checked
the install tool and transparencies are being rendered
by Typo, sooo ... why won't it generate the button?

Any help greatly appreciated,
