In your root page header add the following to the TSconfig:

Not weird, just an annoying default (IMHO). Instructions for how to 
adjust this and many other behaviors are in the extension documentation 
for rtehtmlarea. I'd refer you directly to the page for the extension, 
but the doc pages appear to be broken just now... :-( But it *is* 
configurable.
