The extranet consists of 2 different things:
1. FE usergroups with FE users (which you make for example in a sysfolder)
2. the pages/content elements which you restrict to the FE usergroups 
you want with the ACCESS field - this can be found in the bottom of the 
page/element properties. You can also make a common restriction with the 
  "show at login" or "hide at login" options.

After you have made the previous actions the user (belogning to the FE 
usergroup) who logs in, can see the restricted pages/content elements. 
The login form can be placed multiple times, if wanted, any where on the 
site or it can be in the template so it appears on every page. But 
that's another story..;)
