[TYPO3] How to have a new line in a string value in typoscript

I have googled and searched TSREF, but didn't find an answer. Perhaps
someone here can help me.

I want to set a property (page.config.doctype) using Typescript to a string
value that contains newlines. Is this possible?

The newlines are not absolutely needed, but as the value is rather long, it
would be much better.
