[TYPO3] RTE and max. table width

Dear List,
within typo3 v4 we make use of workspaces in combination with RTE 
v1.4.1. I like to know if anyone knows how to deal with the following 
concerning the editing of tables in RTE.

Is it possible, concerning the properties of TABLES, to:
1. force a maximum width for the whole table?
2A. for backend users to manually edit column width with numbers in 
stead of dragging the table border?
OR
2B. to drag columns in stead of the border of the whole table?

We make use of Firefox.

Anyone an idea?
