[TYPO3] Help--Mail not sent in sr_feuserRegister

I installed sr_feuser_register v.2.3.6  with T3 4.0 and configured like 
the manual states.

When testing I get the admin email that states someone has attempted to 
sign up and there is a user record created that is marked hidden.

The user who signed up is not getting their email to confirm their 
registration. What could be the reason?
