A story about two clients (male/female) and an RTE:
One client of mine received a 2 hour typo3 cms training on their sites
backend. Before, (s)he hardly used Internet and (s)he made a few documents
in Word. Now (s)he's managing a part of the site with ease. (S)(H)(h)e loves
it.
Another client has recognisable difficulties with the RTE. Specially with
the fonts. My solution, I say to h(er)(im): stay away from the font-settings
unless you realy need it and rely on the default settings (in css), or pay
more for - extensive - tailorwork. Before, (s)he had experience with FP...
Hey, FP... is this a co-incidence? No. It's about what you're used to and
your habbits. When I look at a piece of code, I run through it visually, but
I would save a lot of time if I used the search-options of UltraEdit. When I
make a typing-error, I always remove the whole word or even sentence before
making the corrections. It's just user behavior.
The customer is not always right, I'd say. This is not a bar with drunken
people, it's serious cms consultancy you sell here!
In your case, you could convince the client. It's not about having a
website, it's about having a great business system with an interface to the
Internet. The only thing is: if she doesn't need it, you're done. No
business case for CMS = end of story. But I can't imagine there is no
business case.
Considered this too: she doesn't want CMS because she has PMS... and this is
not just a (bad) joke ...
By the way: if someone likes FP better, just Disable the Editor! There you
have some tags...
