[TYPO3] Generic database extension

Hi,

I would like to extend TYPO3 with some functionality using a database.
Of course I can do that using PHP and by making a TYPO3 extension.
However my PHP knowledge is not very good and I haven't learned enough
about TYPO3 as well.

That's why I'm wondering if there is some sort of generic database
extension that allows me to define database tables and content elements
that are based on those database tables.

My use case is for my badminton-club, I would like to keep track of the
'strengths and development opportunities' of the people in our teams.
That helps us making them better in playing badminton. Ideally the
screens that are generated would have to make use of the existing
security mechanisms etc. as already available in TYPO3.
