[TYPO3] Optionsplit - Menu with 5 columns

Hi,

I have a menu build of images. The amount of items is not known. Now i 
want to insert a <br> tag after every 5 items, like this:

item1 - item2 - item3 - item4 - item5
item6 - item7 - item8 - item9 - item10
item11 .....

I have looked at optionsplit but i cant figure out how to do this.

Hope someone has a solution or at least a direction to look in ;)
