[TYPO3] Lightweight Typo3 Library for FE extensions?

Hi there,

i have a coding style that is somewhat different from what is proposed 
in typo3 - i use realurl and switch from the pathparts which 
site/content to display (no need to put records in pages)
also i do not extend pibase. Same with my ajax stuff - that way i can 
keep things quite simple and cacheable with kb_quickfe for example.

But at some points i run into trouble - is there sort of a library that 
typo3-indipendently checks if a fe_user is logged in and or give other 
important "main variables" (without loading complete typo3)?

Would be glad for any suggestions!
