[TYPO3] Content Sliding

What is the best way to slide content elements?  Right now I'm using the 
kb plugin to slide content, but growing continually frustrated with it. 
  Namely when I update the mapping in TV it blows away all the XML for 
my sliding out of the DS.  I'm using typo3 4.0, and I noticed that it 
has content sliding "built in" but I'm trying to figure out how to use it.
