[TYPO3] simulateStaticDocument

I'm using simulateStaticDocument and it works very well except for pages 
that are type External URL.  The site creates links to external files as if 
they were internal:

Create_a_NetID.644.0.html
Instead of:
https://netid.arizona.edu/

Please help.
