[TYPO3] How to stop FE access

Hi Stan,
You wouldn't be messing up .htaccess - the simple piece of code I sent is
stable and it's absolutely necessary for realurl to work. The only other
way to achieve the same is to edit the server wide configuration - and I
guess that you both don't want to and cannot edit it. You do not need the
htaccess file delivered with typo3, just put the piece of code into a
plain text file and name the file '.htaccess'.
Apart from that, why did you put your typo3 site into your document root ?
I suggest you put it into a subdirectory and then password protect it. I
guess you have a managed server or just some web space on one of those
mass servers - in that case you should be able to comfortably do the
protection setup via a web interface. Then, after you tested everything
and it's up and running as you wish you can put the whole stuff back into
the document root and replace your current site with it.

I hope this helps,
Christian
