[Typo3] from a lurker :-) about managing communities/forum

Dear users,

I'm going to start a no-profit community about FCP (apple software for
editing video), and I wish to realize a website with the usual needed
stuff as publish news, articles and so on.

After my last business-project using Typo3 (as soon as my customer will
pay, I'll make a donation, necessarily and with the smile, Typo3 rocks!
www.phyto.it) I WANT TO USE it also for this my private project.

Well... I should like to manage the subscriptions for the members, have
an user and a password plus an identification number. In addition of it
I should like to manage a forum... something like (better, of course!)
than phpbb...

I made several tests but no success yet, nothing is really particulary cool.

- can anyone show me some site for a community managed by typo3?
- can anyone tell me which are the best extensions to realize what I'm
searching for?
