The installation check actually has a bug itself, which I reported an I
provided a fix for several month ago, and still, I do not see any progress.
http://bugs.typo3.org/view.php?id=1188
However, yesterday I found out that the whoever was responsible for making IM5
work was even more mad than I initially thought. I even found code, with the
intention to fix the issue out of class.t3lib_stdgraphic.php. The code is
spread all over the classes instead of dealing with the so called invert_mask
issue at one single place in one single line.
By the way, for all who still believe the IM5 issue has anything to do with
the fact that they swapped black and white handling in their mask code: the
source of the problem is the fact that the order of the command line
arguments swapped as of version 5. Therefor inverting the mask before the
actual processing is nonsense and completely unnecessary!
I think the fact that m.mask does not work is based on the same problem. I
will find out and provide a patch. I just doubt, that anybody will implement
it, because it seems to be over their head to implement a patch that is
longer that 3 lines!
