Not much. Prepare everything as you want it to be the:

1) package all your files (ideally this wouldn't include the Typo3 
source, which is referenced with a symbolic link)

2) dump your database

That's 2 compressed files and it's done. Deployment is unpacking your 
files and creating a new database with your dump. Change the database 
parameters in the install tool (or directly in typo3conf/localconf.php) 
and you're set.
