I made good experiences with 1&1:

* long history
* allways leading technologies
* acceptable prices on the long run
* rare breakdowns
* quick response times of support


But it may be a good idea, to take a hoster that is specialised on 
TYPO3. The can offer upgrades very economically in comparism to an admin 
that roles a single TYPO3 server.

http://typo3.net/ is a very expirienced hoster.
