[Typo3] v3.8 upgrade and eu_ldap

After I upgraded to Typo3 3.8.0, I could not authenticate to  the 
FE, which uses eu_ldap. I upgraded eu_ldap to the latest version 
(2.7.3), which did not help. Then I downgraded to v2.6.7, which 
magically did work--until this afternoon. At first, I had no 
access to FE or BE. I removed eu_ldap from localconf extList and 
was able to access the BE again. Still no FE. I'm not sure what to 
try next.
