[Typo3] debugging typo 3

Hello,

I've got this external url problem; my external urls redirect to templated 
pages instead of to the external url that it should point to - I've emailed 
the newsgroups a couple of times, but it seems peculiar to my installation 
of Typo3.  I need to run some debug routines to find out where it's failing.

Can someone help me know how to trace it down?
