I second that.

TYPO3 typically uses one mysql database to hold the content.

The multilanguage feature is built in by default and alternate language
records are held on the same database.

Have now worries, TYPO3 handles multilingual sites very well.

There is so much documentation and that is a good thing. Just be prepared
for a lot of reading.
