[Typo3] The GPL and Extensions

Hallo,

Again I had a talk about wheter T3 extensions are "required" to be GPL.

As already mentioned in many previous posts T3 extensinos are required to be GPL because
they are built on top of T3 and wouldn't be runnable without it ....

but now the thing is that there are already "extensions" for the linux kernel which are
proprietary and not GPLed altough the Linux kernel lies under this license. (Nvidia graphic drivers)

It isn't true that a software needs to be under the GPL if it makes API calls to a GPLed programm
or environment.

One could note that extensions created with the kickstarter are GPL. But that is also not true
in my opinion. If you write a program and compile it with some GPL compiler (gcc) then the resulting
programm is NOT required to be GPLed. Also the output of vim doesn't need to be GPL ...
A program under the GPL which generates other programs doesn't require that the generated programs
are also GPL. (In the GPL this is mentioned in the part where they talk about the output of a program)

So I don't really see any reason why T3 extension have to be GPL ...

Did I miss something ?

greets,
Bernhard
