but none of this quite what I mean.

IF you can put everything into one column on a specific page then use 
the CONTENT cObject.  It is the base for the styles.content.get, so if 
you customise it for your particular need in this case you can always 
use the conetnt form one page in teh right hand column through out the site!

just look at tsrefit gives brief description, and then in ts by example 
it shows some uses.
