[Typo3] Is typo3 3.8.0 beta2 + Templavoila 4.0 bad?

Typo3: 3.8.0beta2
Templavoila: 4.0

I've followed FTB step by step.  But I got a blank page if I go to my 
site URL directly or click preview on the backend.  I noticed on 
http://typo3.org/documentation/document-library/doc_tut_ftb1/Applying_the_TO_as_p/, 
one user mentioned:

if you don't get a "reward" ie. if you only see a blank page after 
looking at the Root Page remember if you use TemplaVoila 3.0 you need 
typo3.7.0 - any other combinations fail! (eg. TV 4.0 which is for 
typo3.8.0 by the way).

So what does that tell me?  Should I downgrade my typo3 to 3.7 and 
templavoila to 3.0?
