[Typo3] Manually unpacking t3x-files

Hi out there,

I was wondering if there was a way to manually unpack a t3x-file 
(uncompressed, in this case).

I have found the hints to class.tx_extrep.php and t3lib_extmgm.php, but 
before I ask someone to look there and possibly write a script that 
tears the t3x-file apart, I wanted to ask if anyone here already has 
such a script?
