[Typo3] function to remove default fields from select queries in FE

Hi list.

I remember there was a function to remove TYPO3 default fields like uid,pid,
tstamp etc. from a select query used in an FE-plugin.
So that
SELECT * FROM whatever
returns the fields belonging to the extension only.

... hit me but I am not able to find it again. Anybody?
