[Typo3] create Template Extension?

Joe,
Have you looked at 3.8 from CVS yet?  It includes an overhauled 
import/export wizard that lets you package pagetrees and specific 
records (such as a Template Object and a Data Structure) into a t3x 
file.  It's not quite the same thing as extensions but it does allow 
packaging templates as a single file.
