Perhaps I’m out of line in entering a commentary as I’ve just gained enough
knowledge to become facile with typo3.. Not totally naïve re this genre of
product, for several years I’ve used commercial products that profess to do
similar functions. While a bit clumsy to learn initially, I find typo3 to
be superior in most respects to currently available commercial products – at
any price point. This is a long-winded way to getting around to stating my
opinion re vectoring funds back to the project. In my (not so humble)
opinion, I believe that any using the product/project should be more than
happy to voluntarily contribute, installation by installation.

My bias, as an independent entrepreneur and paid developer since 1968, is
that anytime the unpaid (by choice or otherwise) work-product of others goes
into increasing the value and decreasing the time spent in producing revenue
for me – it is immoral (at best) to not contribute to those components of
cost that contribute to my revenue stream. There are those who claim the
high ground for others when making assertions re “open source” -- they many
times claim the same for themselves by indirection when not contributing
back to that by which they are fed. It takes no intellectual giant to
realize that time generously spent by others, is blood -- blood that is very
expensive and hard to maintain.

Count me in for contributions commensurate with revenue produced by my use
of typo3 and other open source contributions.

and thanks for a great product and effort of all contributing their time
and intellectual capital to the project. Hopefully, over time, I’ll be able
to make some small contribution. BTW, for those who puke on their shoes
over use of the word “capital”, intellectual capital is indeed capital.

Please, this is not meant as an opening for sophomoric debate. For those so
inclined, you’d lose. Therefore I will not engage in wasting my time with
trivial exercise. At 68 years, it’s not worth my (or others’) time.

With respects,
