[Typo3] "Table error!" when trying to install any extensions

Hi Rob:
Indeed the problem is with mysql 4.1.
Fortunately I was able to build my test site from scratch using mysql 4.0.
Any tricks or trips on how to downgrade typo3 from using mysql 4.1 to mysql 4.0 ?
