[Typo3] p tags bothering me

Besides I've tried to put this:

RTE.default {
proc {
dontConvBRtoParagraph = 1
}
}

in my ts config (and setup just for testing) without any change, except I 
have somehow gotten rid of the extra font tags... I know I'm fumbling but 
bear with me...
