Exactly. Check this: http://www.adriyatik.com/phpinfo.php  and
http://www.d-grup.com/phpinfo.php

There is no way anyone could install anything on these hosts as they
are Turkish hosts buying space from something like cheapresseler.com
who in turn buys from bigreseller.com who in turn... (all names are
made up)

It is also should be noted that even GD has made its way into a
typical package only recently (give or take a couple of years) and so
far GD is by far more available than IM and is quite capable of basic
image manipulation (see
http://phpthumb.sourceforge.net/demo/demo/phpThumb.demo.demo1.php).

So, the choice to nearly completely forego GD in Typo was unjustified, IMHO.

I wonder if an extension could be made that hooks directly into image
processing of Typo....
