[Typo3] Sitemap - Section Index - links to homepage not content element

Hi,

I am trying to set up some pages with links within them to content
elements on the same page.

I have tried this in two ways:

Firstly in creating the links manually

Secondly in using the Sitemap type 'Section Index'

In both cases I get a link URL like http://www.mydomain.org/#282
When clicked this results in a link to the homepage of the website not
to the content element lower down the same page.

I am using Typo3 v3.7.0 with RealURL

Any ideas why this won't worK?
