[Typo3] apache ldap sso problems

Hi,

I have 2 problems with my setup :

1- using the ldap_server, ldap_sync, ldap_auth, extensions I managed to
synchronize my FE users with my Active Directory users, but I only get
1000 of my users. I have 1300 of them, and I can't get the remaining 300.
I don't see what to do to get these users ?

2- I use Apache 2.052 with the kerberos module installed ( fedora core 3 
). I hoped to do some sso with typo3 as described in the manual here :

The doc says that there should be an apache variable accessible in php 
called $_SERVER['REMOTE_USER'] but there is no such variable in my setup 
even using Internet Explorer 6.0 with - or without - what I assume are 
the correct options ( I activated/deactivated Integrated Windows 
authentication in the options ) . Since the manual is quite short on the 
subject, could someone give me some hints ?
