[Typo3] Newbie question: <p> for every enter

I have a problem when creating text content.

When a new line is made using enter, the resulting page seem to have <p> 
.. </p> around every line, which gives more space between each line than 
wanted.

I can work around writing <br> instead of hitting enter, but isn't there 
any way to make typo3 use <br> instead of <p> when hitting enter at 
editing text content?
