[Typo3] Add textbox to Regular Text Content Element

I started to create an extension, but decided it was too much work for what I am trying to achieve. I also didn't want my article authors to have to go through the trouble of adding a PLUGIN content element and then using the list module to add a plugin content element. Simply, I want to add a RATING textbox to the Regular Text Content Element page. Right now it only shows HEADLINE and the RTE... How can I add my own textbox without creating an extension? When the user submits the RATING textbox, I want the value inserted into the pages table under the column RATING.

I'm not worried about outputting the rating on pages right now, that can just be a simple PHP function called by Typoscript... This seems like it would be a really simple hack if I knew which files to edit.
