[Typo3] layout problem

Css:float for 2 column view? 
In that case I'm not even sure how to implement the PHP that could
create such a view... I need to create a box for each data row and
place it left or right depending which number it is I guess using
PHP...

If you mean css:float for setting a border I don't get the idea?
