[Typo3] Display file size in "normal" file link not content type filelink

Hi,
I hope I did not miss an obvious entry in the list archives or tutorials
or ...
My problem is, that I would like to have the file size of linked files
displayed in my page when I use a "normal" link in a text content
element and not the filelink content element. So far, my search did not
turn up with a solution, so any help is welcome ...
