[Typo3] GDLib and freetype installation

Goodmorning!

I have installed GDlib 2 plus freetype on my machine, during comiling 
there were no problems or issues. After restarting apache and even 
rebooting the machine Typo3 couldnt find GDLib. Is there a special 
location I need to install GDLib to or is there a way for me to specify 
where freetype and gdlib are located 
(/usr/local/include/freetype2/freetype/).
