[Typo3] Direct Mail: No Images in HTML-Mails

hi folks!

Again, issues with the direct_mail-Module (does this damn thing *ever* 
work out of the box?!):

HTML-Mails look fine in the preview, but are sent without proper 
image-linking. There are some Mime-Parts attached, and the size of the 
mail somehow fits (about 50k), but images are broken in all mail-clients 
I tried (Mail.app, Thunderbird, GMX).

I'm on Typo 3.6.2, direct_mail 1.0.8 and use sr_direct_mail_ext.

Rough Guesses: Wrong mime-parts (multipart/relative?), wrong linking, 
wrong formatting (brackets inside an img-tag), base64-encoding?. Ideas?!
