[Typo3] Link in extension

Hi!

I have an extension which uses the RTE in the backend.
So the FE user can create links in content elements.

But when the plugin displays text in the frontend, links are kept as "<LINK
123>Text</LINK>".
Is there any simple way to get a <A> tag?

A transformation perhaps, but I couldn't find the right piece of code.
I could do it by using t3lib_parsehtml_proc.php, but is there any other
solution?
