[Typo3] Forms on Windows Servers

I'm new to typo3 and extensions.  I just need to create newsletter subscribe
form, and a contact form.

It seems like all extensions use sendmail, but the server for the site is a
windows machine so sendmail is not used.  I can't figure out how to make
this work and I've looked for hours trying to figure out how to do this.

I'm willing to just put in custom php forms using mail() but I don't know
how to add custom php scripts.

Can someone point me in the the right direction? I think I'm the least
experienced typo3 user on this list!
