[Typo3] formatting html tables using typoscript

Sorry to keep harping on about formatting tables but it's really annoying me
that I can't get a table to look how I want it to look.
Well, I can but my subsequent users, who will be putting in data tables,
will have problems. I want to have strict control over what the tables they
put in look like but at the moment, Typo3 lets me do very little.
Can I:
a) set up the config so that all <td> are valigned to the top
b) make the first row in a table a <th> row
c) stop typo3 putting table content in a <p> tag automatically
Is there ANYTHING I can do about this?
Many thanks.
Emma

Thanks Peter but I'm afraid that means nothing to me!!
I don't really want to start messing about with php pages as I don't know
what I'm doing. Am trying some RTE extensions which might help.

Hi Emma. Are you using css_styled_content?
If so, then the only way to change the rendering AFAIK, is to edit the
pi1/class.tx_cssstyledcontent_pi1.php directly, and change the code in the
"render_table()" function.
