Hi Dennis,

I don't know of such an extension to preview templates. To proview
content there is the new concept of workspaces. Smaller changings of the
template you can test in a hidden page.

Apart from that, the way you do it, seems to be the way most bigger
professional agencies do it, too.

Assuming that the user edits his content in the life system, you make a
temporary copy of the life sytem to the development server. Call that a
sandbox. In a sandbox you can test alterations of design, plugins,
config, templates etc. under nearly real conditions without doing any harm.

If your alterations work, you feed them back into the life system. Make
a backup before to make it perfect.

For that approach you only need a script, that makes it easy to copy the
whole installation.
