[Typo3] TYPO3 ECommerce

hey all

just curious, I read thru most of projectdescription_1.5.pdf that 
describes the ecommerce extension that is currently in development. it 
looks promising and it will be based on typo3 3.8, but i wonder what 
happens once typo3 makes the next version...3.9 or 4...as i'm new i'm 
not real aware of the way updates are being done and methods possible 
one to do that...
