[Typo3] Typo3 Forum vs. phpbb?

I have a phpBB site right now that I'm trying to get Typo3 working
with. I'm looking very closely at the http://www.single-signon.com/.
My goal is two fold. First to integrate the accounts of phpBB and
Typo3 such that the users doesn't see that they are separate systems.
Second, to provide a Typo3 FE session experience that is equivalent
to phpBB.

In my experience phpBB is very similar to other web systems where
sessions can time out due to inactivity, your session is ended when
you log out, and each use has the option of setting a "remember me"
check box when they login. As far as I can tell Typo3 does not offer
this kind of FE user experience.

I'm finalizing my plan to have a contractor improve the FE session
experience. However, I'm wondering if the Typo3 community as a whole
has identified a need for better FE sessions. I'm not trying to
hijack this topic. What I found when I was trying to integrate phpBB
and Typo3 was that the FE session experience was greatly superior in
phpBB and I could not use Typo3 to manage FE accounts without brining
it up to the level of phpBB.

I'm interested in working with anyone that is interested on either
phpBB integration or Typo3 FE sessions improvements. What I'm most
interested in is getting a good requirements document and having the
work done in such a way that it can be used by the entire Typo3
community.

Regards,
Eric
