[Typo3] Alias to Squirrelmail?

Hi list,

I have squirrelmail installed on my server, and I would like to set up 
an alias for my TYPO3 domain; so if a user were to type:

http://mydomain.com/mail

It would take them to the squirrelmail login page.

I set up an alias in my Apache config file, but no luck. I tried:

AliasMatch ^/mail(.*) /path/to/squirrelmail$1

and

Alias /mail/ "/path/to/squirrelmail"

Every attempt takes me to my domains index.php page. I'm using realurl, 
and I suspect that may be the problem. Is there a way to do this in 
TYPO3? Or is there another solution?
