[Typo3] lz_gallery Thumbnail creating without IM

Hi,

is there a way for lz_gallery to create the thumbnails without the use 
of imagemagick?
i am just negotiating with my provider if he could install imagemagick, 
but i am not so sure he will...

another way would be to set the thumbnail size directly (since currently 
it is calculated by maxWidth / colums)
