[Typo3] RealURL issues: possible corruption and how to fix automatically?

Dearest list people,

I have a recurring problem with RealURL: it seems that some part of its 
tables gets corrupt, and previously-working links stop behaving 
properly, instead sending you to the root or to a random page, for example.
I can always fix this by emptying the "tx_realurl_pathcache " table.
I would like to automate this, so that the "tx_realurl_pathcache " gets 
emptied out, for instance, every 4 hours or so. Is there a setting in 
realURL that would acomplish this? Or do I have to use some sort of Cron 
Job?
