[Typo3] Cells containing just a "0" aren't rendered

Hello,
I have a problem with tables rendered in Typo3: A cell, just
containing a "0" is replaced by a "&nbsp" in the frontend output.
It doesn't matter weather I use a RTE (HTMLArea for example) or I
enter the HTML-Code directly in the tt_content table:
"<td>0</td>" becomes "<td>&nbsp;</td>" but "<td>1</td>" works.
I've tested it in various setups with different Typo Versions (3.8,
3.7.1); always the same result.
How can I get the "0" rendered correctly?
